Why am I unable to edit target languages in an existing XTM Cloud project?

Why am I unable to edit target languages in an existing XTM Cloud project?

Introduction

Sometimes, when you select Project editor → General info → General infoTarget languages in some XTM Cloud projects, the Update button is not displayed next to the project target languages, making it impossible to add or delete target languages in that project.

At first, you might think the root cause lies in a specific XTM Cloud customer, project template or filter template that you have chosen. However, this is not the case.

Root cause

The root cause in this case is that file joining has been enabled when the XTM Cloud project was created in the XTM Cloud UI, regardless of which type of joining has been applied. In projects of this kind, it is not possible to add or delete target languages. This is an expected behavior.

Good to know!

File joining settings can be enabled and managed in the XTM Cloud UI. To do so, select Configuration → Settings → Projects → Joining files in sets (administrative privileges required).
