Locale: Technical – Creating a Magento Access Token

What you will need to get started

  1. The admin login information for Magento with access to read and write system integrations, and store configurations

    1. Note: If you do not possess the correct credentials to access this information, please contact your system administrator or your Magento representative. Locale does not have access to this nor do we provide this information.


Creating the integration extension to grant API access

In order to grant Locale access to your Magento instance, an API token is needed during project setup. In order to do this, a Magento integration extension must be created, so long as the user has the correct permissions, this process is quick and painless.

  1. Start by accessing your Magento instance with the necessary credentials.

  2. Select the System → Integrations menu option.

  1. And Add a new integration.

  1. Create a name for the integration that will be helpful to remember (Example: Translation Integration with Locale) and enter your password to confirm you have the rights to make changes.

  1. Before selecting Save, choose the API tab on the left, and change the Resource Access to All.

  1. Next, activate the integration by selecting the Activate button.

  1. And click the Allow button in the top right corner.

  1. This page will highlight all of the integration tokens created for the various integrations which will be needed. For Locale, simply copy the Access Token in the third line. This, together with the domain of your Magento instance will be required to configure Locale.

  1. Should you need to access this information again, simply select the System → Integrations menu, and choose the edit pencil to the right of the integration you’ve created and scroll down.
