Google Sheets is one of the worlds most known, dynamic spreadsheet applications. When used for translation needs, it pairs perfectly with Lang Connector by Locale for a quick, and efficient automated translation workflow. By using a simple translation format and workflow, it is easy to extract content for translation via your existing workflows, whether it is a TMS, MT engine, or dedicated human for translation.

1. The Login link for Locale.

2. The username and password for the Google Account which contains the Google Sheet for translation.

   1. Note: If you do not possess the correct credentials to access this information, please contact your system administrator or support representative. Locale does not have access to this nor do we provide this information.

3. User login information for both your Locale instance, and your Google Sheets account.

   1. A trial account of Locale can also be taken for free by going to locale.to and selecting the “Get Started” button.

In order to add the Google Sheets connector to your Locale instance, you will need the username and password information for the account you’d like to connect with locale.

1. Start by accessing your Locale instance with your username and password. Once logged into Locale (instructions on that can be found here: Locale: Accessing your Locale instance), you will see a Dashboard which looks something like this image below.

2. Select the Add Project button and you will be presented with the Locale Connector Store.

3. Select the Document option in the menu filter to the left, and select the Create Project button under Google Sheets in the first row.

4. Next is the OAuth screen for connecting your Google Sheet instance to the Locale platform.

5. Make sure that the user account here matches the user account which contains the content to be translated.

6. Then confirm the permissions to allow reading, writing, and viewing.

   1. Note: If content is in a view-only access right, Lang Connector cannot process the content for translation.

7. After this step, Lang Connector will connect with your Google Sheets instance, and you’re ready for the project creation step.

Once you have followed the steps above to configure the Google Sheets connector, you are almost ready to create a project. It is also important to understand the document formatting and language mapping that must be in place for Lang Connector and the Locale platform to be able to properly handle your request. 1. The first step is to choose the Google Sheets page which contains your content for translation.

2. Next, choose the source and target languages for your project, and select Add project.

3. Locale will begin by analyzing the content found in the Google Sheet page, and show the number of words and segments required for translation.

4. Choosing the Content tab will give you an overview of the content pieces that have been accessed for translation by Lang Connector.

5. Once your content has been pushed for translation, it will automatically be placed back into the Google Sheet under the appropriate target language columns, and the status in Locale will show Completed.
