HubSpot: Which content types can be translated in XTM Cloud?

Introduction

The XTM Connect – HubSpot integration enables several content types to be sent for translation in XTM Cloud. These are:

  • Landing pages.

  • Blog posts.

  • Forms.

  • Emails.

They are grouped in the Add content section of the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin, for ease of identification and management.

Nonetheless, there are some minor differences in the ways these content types are created in the HubSpot CMS and how they are sent to XTM Cloud for translation.

Description of content types

Blog posts

  • To create a blog post in the HubSpot CMS, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to Marketing → WebsiteBlog and click on the Create button, on the right-hand side of the page.

  1. Follow the next steps displayed on the screen, to create a blog post, with the use of the HubSpot editor.

  2. Finally, save the changes.

  • Before you can send a particular blog post for translation into a specific target language, in XTM Cloud, you first need to create a relevant language variant for it in the HubSpot CMS. To learn how to do so, see the Blog posts section in this article: HubSpot: What determines which languages are available during project submission?. A translation of the blog post is imported straight into the previously created language variant of that content item.

  • Blog post is one of the two content types whose content items can be previewed directly in the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin, by clicking on the “eye” icon. Also, an in-context preview is available in XTM Cloud (via XTM Visual mode).

  • Once a blog post is sent to XTM Cloud, its source file is in XML format.

Emails

  • To create an email in the HubSpot CMS, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to Marketing → EmailCreate email.

  1. Follow the next steps displayed on the screen, to create an email, with the use of the HubSpot editor.

  2. Finally, save the changes.

  • Translating emails does not require setting up any additional language variants. A translated email is imported with the language code added at the end of the email title.

  • Email is one of the two content types whose content items cannot be previewed directly in the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin. However, in-context preview is available in XTM Cloud (via XTM Visual mode).

  • Once an email is sent to XTM Cloud, its source file is in XML format.

Landing pages

  • To create a landing page in the HubSpot CMS, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to Marketing → Landing Pages.

  1. Select the Create button, on the right-hand side, and then select either Website page or Landing page.

  1. Follow the next steps displayed on the screen, to create a landing page, with the use of the HubSpot editor.

  2. Finally, save the changes.

  • Translating landing pages does not require setting up any additional language variants. A translated landing page is imported with the language code added at the end of the landing page title.

  • Landing page is one of the two content types whose content items can be previewed directly in the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin, by clicking on the “eye” icon. Also, an in-context preview is available in XTM Cloud (via XTM Visual mode).

  • Once a landing page is sent to XTM Cloud, its source file is in XML format.

Forms

  • To create a form in the HubSpot CMS, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to Marketing → FormsCreate form.

  1. Follow the next steps displayed on the screen, to create a form, with the use of the HubSpot editor.

  2. Finally, save the changes.

  • Translating forms does not require setting up any additional language variants. A translated form is imported with the language code added at the end of the form title.

  • Form is one of the two content types whose content items cannot be previewing directly in the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin. In-context preview is also not available in XTM Cloud.

  • Once a form is sent to XTM Cloud, its source file is in XLIFF format.

Translation queue

Once the content is submitted to XTM Cloud (keep in mind that you can send different content types at the same time – within one XTM Cloud project), it is displayed in the Translation queue section of the XTM Connect – HubSpot plugin. Contrary to the Add content section, they are no longer grouped by content type, in the Translation queue section.

Furthermore, as you might have already noticed, regardless of the content type, when you submit multiple content items within one XTM Cloud project, the Translation queue section does not display your submission as one entry but breaks the entire project down into individual content items, each corresponding to one XTM Cloud job.

In other words, it displays individual XTM Cloud jobs, not entire projects. This is clearer and enables individual translated content items to be returned to HubSpot as soon as they are finished in XTM Cloud.
