Contentful: Two ways to access the XTM Connect – Contentful translation plugin

Introduction

There are two ways in which you can submit content from Contentful for translation in XTM Cloud.


Use of XTM Connect application

Accessing the application

  1. One way to submit content for translation in XTM Cloud is to use the XTM Connect application. In Contentful, go to Apps XTM Connect.

  1. When you select it, a login page is displayed. IN it, enter these login credentials: Client name, User email, Password

IMPORTANT!

As you might already know, you should log in with the credentials of the user that was previously created in the Users section, in the Contentful administrator panel.

Add content

The Add content section contains all the items that are eligible for translation in XTM Cloud. As you can see, you can filter by Content type, Status or Tags. Select one or more content items, complete the project settings, and add the project to the queue (Add to queue) or send it directly to XTM Cloud (Send for translation).

Translation queue

In the Translation queue, you can view all your pending projects. The panel displays the basic details for your projects such as their name, source and target languages, status, XTM workflow step, etc.

When translation is completed in XTM Cloud, the content items are imported back to Contentful automatically. If, however, there is a technical issue along the way, you have the option to import a particular content item manually by expanding the "three dots" icon on the right-hand side, and clicking the Import option.

Accessing the sidebar

To enable you to use the sidebar when logging in to the application embedded in the CMS, and submit a particular content item for translation in XTM Cloud, directly at the level of that specific item, you must first enable the XTM Connect App element in the sidebar, for the specific content model that a particular content item is based on. To do so, in the Content model screen, select a content model and then Sidebar.

Now, go to a particular content item. You will see the Connect to XTM button, in the General section on the right-hand side of the page.

IMPORTANT!

As you probably already know, you should log in with the credentials of the user that was previously created in the Users section, in the Kentico administrator panel.

Add content

In the Add content section, you can send a content item, that you are currently in, straight for translation in XTM Cloud. You also have the option to first add the content to the queue (Add to queue) or submit it for translation in XTM Cloud immediately (Send for translation).

Translation queue

The Translation queue here is exactly the same as when you use the XTM Connect sidebar panel.

When translation is completed in XTM Cloud, the content items are imported back to Contentful automatically.
