Introduction
You might sometimes have an MS Office file (Word, Excel or PowerPoint format) in which a specific font color has been applied to part of the text, with the requirement that only text in that color should be extracted for translation. You can arrange this, for translation in XTM Cloud, by creating a suitable filter in the Filter Templates module, in the XTM Cloud UI.
To ensure that you have a good understanding of how to create filter templates in the XTM Cloud UI, we recommend that you read the How to create a filter template in the XTM UI and apply it to a project article before you read any further in this article. |
Instructions
To create a filter template that defines which text is to be sent off for translation, based on its font color, take the following steps:
First of all, in your MS Office file, check which color code has been applied to the text that is due for translation in XTM Cloud. To do so, mark a highlighted text and right-click on it. Select Font color and, from the dropdown menu, select More colors….
Go to the Custom section.
Take a look at the value displayed in the Hex column. This is a unique code for a particular MS Office font color. Copy it to your Clipboard.
Then create a suitable filter template. In XTM Cloud, go to Configuration → Filter templates → (select the level at which you would like to set up this filter template) → Add configuration.
From the dropdown menu, select Filter.
In the File type section, select the MS Office extension for which you want to create this filter template. Then, in the Translate section, select the Only text in font color parameter and paste the unique color code that you copied in step 3. above into the Hex field. Finally, click the Save and add configuration button.
You should see a confirmation message that your filter was created successfully.
That is it! Now, you just need to apply the filter to your project, reanalyze the project if needed, and see the result.
