Introduction

When working on a specific project in XTM Cloud, sometimes you might realize you are trying to edit translation in the Review workflow step, recollecting that the purpose of that workflow step is slightly different. This article aims to describe the Review step in its entirety.

What can and cannot you do in the Review step?

General information

In general, as the name of the workflow step in question suggests, the Review workflow step is primarily for reviewing the translation after it has been performed (usually in the Translate step), and subsequently corrected (usually in the Correct step), by adding comments to it in relevant segments in XTM Workbench. Therefore, what this particular step differs in from the rest of the project workflow steps is that users can mainly enter comments about translations therein but they cannot edit the translation in any way.

Below you will find all the details on what can and cannot be done in the Review step.

What can you do?

In the Review workflow step you can:

  • add comments for a particular segment in XTM Workbench,

  • run any kind of Quality Assurance (QA) checks from the QA dropdown in XTM Workbench,

  • use XTM Workbench filters,

  • change the segment’s status in XTM Workbench.

What cannot you do?

In the Review workflow step you cannot:

  • edit segments content in any way in XTM Workbench,

  • import XLIFF files to this workflow step within the framework of offline translation solution (for more information see How to translate offline (use of XLIFF files)). Once you try to upload such XLIFF file, any work performed offline will not be displayed in the Review step whatsoever.

  • merge two or more segments in XTM Workbench,
