Introduction

XTM Connect – Oracle Content Management enables the user to submit digital media assets for translation in XTM Cloud, apart from the remaining three asset types that are eligible for translation, such as TEXT, LARGE TEXT and REFERENCE.

However, the very process of translating digital media assets is a little bit more complex than just dragging the Media pane onto the Fields section of your Asset Type, and attaching some files. This article provides you with a step-by-step procedure of setting translation of such a digital media asset into motion.

IMPORTANT!

Before any digital media assets can be translated in XTM Cloud, you have make sure that you enable processing of media files in the Product media files section, by selecting the Enable processing of media files checkbox.

In the Extensions for source files section, select all file extensions which are to be supported.

Instructions

  1. First of all, create a new digital asset type. In the Oracle CMS, go to Content Asset TypesCreate Digital Asset Type.

  1. Fill out basic information about the digital asset type and click Create.

  1. Next, an editor will pop up. In the Media Types section, select those file extensions which you are going to support/use with this digital asset type.

  1. Once done, click Save to actually create your digital asset type and actually save the changes therein.

IMPORTANT!

Make sure you will add a newly-created Digital Asset Type to your repository in the Oracle CMS (Content Repositories).

  1. Now, a newly-created digital asset type needs to be incorporated into our “regular” asset type. Make sure you create one if you have not done so beforehand. Go to Content Asset Types → (edit a relevant Asset Type) → Definition, and add the Media pane to your Asset Type definition.

  1. Next, click on the Edit option. Fill out basic information about this particular component and click Next.

  1. In the next section, it is important that you select your newly-created digital asset type in the Select a digital asset type dropdown, or you can include all digital asset types at one by selecting the All digital asset types checkbox. You also need to include the File asset type, if your media is in the form of a file. After that, click OK and Save the changes in your Asset Type.

  1. Finally, while creating a new content item which is to be translated in XTM Cloud, make sure you pick an adequate Asset Type that contains your Digital Asset Type within it.

  1. You should successfully have the selected media attached.

  1. Create and save your content item by clicking Save and Done respectively.

  1. Once done, you can finally send the created content item, which contains the file in question, for translation in XTM Cloud as usual.
