New configuration
While requesting a configuration, the most important part is the desired outcome, kindly as detailed as possible.
Please, raise a proper ticket to the XTM support team and provide the following details:
What should (or should not, if that is the case) be translatable; for example, columns of an Excel file, XML nodes, etc.
What files will be used for projects using this configuration, more specifically, the file extensions, e.g.: XLSX, DOCX, XML.
The URL you are using to access XTM as well as the company name used during the login process.
Where should the configuration be set up? Should it be a filter template, a customer-specific configuration, or set up globally for all the customers? Please, do remember that there is a hierarchy of configuration within XTM (please, click here for more information).
To give an example:
Case: There is a configuration set globally that column “A” for Excel files is not to be extracted for translation. Result: The column “A” will not be translated. Case: Given the customer’s “Test customer” configuration is defined to have the column “A” translatable. Result: The column “A” would be translated for projects for this customer, but not for projects for other customers. Case: Given the filter template configuration to translate column “A” cells if the column “B” contains the word “translate” next to the cell, and we use this filter template for the project. Result: All the cells in column “A” with the word “translate” in column “B” will be translated. |
Provide the XTM Support team with exemplary source files meant to be used with the new configuration. Having exemplary source files provided is proven to greatly speed up the process of the configuration development.
If the new configuration would be similar to an existing one with implemented changes, please, note so. Having this information provided we can understand more deeply the core of the presented matter and understand much quicker what the expected outcome is.
If certain attachments are too big for the e-mail, we suggest creating a test project with the name “XTM Support test project, ticket: (…)”.
Please, remember: the more information provided, the better solution we can implement.
I would like to have changes implemented…
The process of implementing changes to an existing configuration is (most likely) simpler than creating a new one from scratch.
To request the changes, please, first consult your team members to determine whether or not any of the changes would negatively affect the old/current/future projects. If so, we highly recommend creating a new filter template, as this is as simple as copying the files with slight modifications. If you have any questions if a certain change would affect some projects, feel free to ask them.
If you do not want to create a new configuration and modify the existing one, please, point us to an existing project with the configuration used and specify what should be changed about it.
