Introduction

You might often end up with one of MS Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ) that has a specific font color applied to part of the text, and only that particular text should be extracted for translation. XTM Cloud offers such a possibility, by setting up a proper filter in the Filter Templates module, in the XTM Cloud UI.

Before going any further, make sure to read the How to create a filter template in the XTM UI and apply it to a project article, to have a good understanding of how to create filter templates in the XTM Cloud UI.

Instructions

To create a filter template that defines which text is to be sent off for translation, based on its font color, take the following steps.

  1. First of all, go to your MS Office file and check what color code is applied to the text eligible for translation in XTM Cloud. To do so, mark a highlighted text and right-click on it. Select Font color and, from the dropdown menu, select More colors….

  1. From the dropdown menu, select Filter.

  1. In the File type section, select a relevant MS Office extension for which you want to set up this filter template. Then, in the Translate section, select the Only text in font color parameter and paste the unique code into the Hex field. Finally, click the Save and add configuration button.

  1. You should get a confirmation message that your filter was created successfully.

  1. That is it! Now, you just need to apply the filter to your project, reanalyze the latter if needed, and see the result.
