Merge Smart jobs

Merge Smart jobs

Introduction

In Smart projects, you can combine several jobs into one using the Merge functionality. This can reverse unwanted splitting and simplify the process when a single vendor performs multiple jobs.

Which jobs can be merged?

You can only merge jobs that have the following characteristics:

  • Jobs belong to the same step (you cannot merge a Translation job with an Editing job).

  • Jobs have the same vendor assigned or no vendor assigned yet.

  • Jobs have Open, Accepted, or Started status.

  • Jobs are uninvoiced.

Merging integrated jobs

  • You can merge XTM Cloud-integrated jobs. The merge will not be reflected in a linked XTM Cloud project, but the jobs will be remapped properly and synchronized correctly.

  • You cannot merge memoQ-integrated jobs.

Perform the merging

To merge several jobs into one job, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the required Smart project.

  2. In the Jobs card, select the jobs you want to merge.

You can only select one job: the system will automatically suggest other jobs that can be merged with the selected one (see Step 5 below).

    • To add a single additional job, click the button in the last column.

    • To add all other jobs that can be merged with the selected ones, click the +Add all available jobs button above the job list.

  3. Click the Next button (it becomes active when at least two jobs have been selected for merging).

  4. In the Merged job summary section, check the details for the new job that will replace the jobs that have been selected for merging.

The new job will inherit the following details for the jobs selected for the merge:

  • Languages.

  • Vendor.

  • Shared files.

  • Job dates (the job dates will be the earliest start date and the latest deadline date of all selected jobs).

  • Status (if the selected jobs have different statuses, the latest one will be assigned to the new job).

  • Job instructions and notes.

  • Payables.
