Locale: Akeneo – Future Expansion Opportunities

With every connector and their versions, there are certain limitations and areas for expansion which are not always possible at the time of creation. To ensure each user has a seamless experience, we have done our best to document areas which might be helpful to consider when configuring and working with the Lang Connector for Akeneo PIM. As changes are made and permanent solutions are made available, we will be sure to update this space, as well as add relevant publication dates for better version tracking.

Limitation: Adding new language pairs to an existing project requires a re-enabling of Lang Connector permissions

When first configuring the Lang Connector for Akeneo PIM, the permission screen during the setup allows the PIM user to set the permissions for access on the current PIM data. If a user selects “All” within Lang Connector, it means that all current locales (not future ones) will be enabled for Lang Connector access.

If a user adds a new locale, even if this is done to both the Akeneo PIM and the Locale instance, Lang Connector does not automatically have access to this locale; this is according to current safety and security measures on the side of Akeneo.

Current workaround:
To remedy this, the PIM user needs to access the Lang Connector app permissions page (Connect → Connected Apps → Lang Connector → Permissions) and simply uncheck and then re-check “All” permissions to give Lang Connector access to this new locale.

We have also made a GIF so you can easily find where to make the changes.
