This article provides guidance to troubleshooting this problem.

Instructions

  1. Fist of all, check that the string entered in the Authentication Key field is correct.

  2. Check your License Plan. Confirm that the purchased license plan is consistent with CAT tools such as XTM Cloud. Note that a free DeepL Translator account comes with certain limitations.

IMPORTANT!

If your key ends with :fx, this it indicates that you are using the free version of the API. For more information, refer to this description of the DeepL OpenAPI specification.

IMPORTANT!

If your key ends with :fx, this it indicates that you are using the free version of the API. For more information, refer to this description of the DeepL OpenAPI specification.

Unfortunately, the free key works on the https://api-free.deepl.com endpoint and version v2 of the API. In contrast, XTM Cloud is connected via the https://api.deepl.com endpoint and version v1. This prevents your DeepL Translator from connecting to XTM Cloud. To create a connection, you will need a different license.

You would require a DeepL Pro Advanced/Ultimate license to use CAT tools such as XTM Cloud. Refer to the following for more information:

You can also contact DeepL Translator Support, to find out if any other licenses also permit you to connect to CAT tools.
